The old Franciscan friary, known as Grey Friars or the French church is located on Grey Friars Street.
It current houses the King of the Vikings exhibition.
The new Franciscan friary (19th century built with 20th century restoration) on Lady Lane in Waterford City has an active secular Franciscan community.
The Church provides all the usual Church services, with frequent Masses, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and parlour ministry.
Among the Church groups there is an active Secular Franciscan fraternity.
The friars are also the official chaplains in Ardkeen hospital, which is a huge hospital within the city area, and serving much of the South-East of the country.
One of the friars manages a company, Respond, which concentrates on providing sheltered housing, not only in Waterford but in other parts of the country, too.
Other friars work with the Samaritans, with the Community Games organisation, etc.
